Contest at Pulilan Butterfly
Haven is a big hit

The
second annual butterfly on-the-spot painting contest at the Pulilan
Butterfly Haven recently was a big hit. No less than 70 entries were
entered in the yearly event sponsored by the Honarato "Ato"
Aguirre Foundation.
The contestants were divided into four
categories. These include the pre-school participants, those in the
elementary grades, those in high school, and those in college or adult
category.
The
winners in the different categories received cash prizes. In the Category
A (pre-school), the winners are: Savyna Lalo of the School of Our Lady
Trinity, first prize; Paul Dingcong, Little Feet Learning Center, second;
and Isay Ambalada of Montessori School, third prize.
The Category B winners are: Paula Jangcan,
first; Christopher Caminade, second; and Lowell Flores, third prize.
In Category C1, the winners are Jesu Gernale,
first prize; Alex Roxas, second; Carlo Caacbay, third; and honorable
mention - Kristian Cruz, Jeffrey Francia, Michael Logaring, Ray Palines
and Grace Santos.
The Category C2 winners are Ramil Cruz,
first; Agnes German, second; and Danelly Cruz, third prize. Honorable
mention are Juan Ferdinand R. Fajarda and Edwin Pagtalunan.
The
yearly painting contest in honor of the late Honorato Aguirre, a former
vice mayor of Pulilan and husband of Mrs. Estelita Aguirre, deputy commissioner
of the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
The Pulilan Butterfly Haven was established
about three years ago in a portiong of the orhid nursery of Mrs. Aguirre.
It has since become a favorite tourist destination for both local and
foreign tourists.
The butterfly garden is an enclosure where
different species of butterflies thrive amidst a wide variety of flowering
plants.
School children are among the frequent
visitors to the place. Their trips are not only enjoyable but also educational
at the same time.
